CEO Jason C. Fries had the pleasure of joining the esteemed Dr. Stewart Walker, Managing Editor of LIDAR Magazine, for the publication's second podcast episode.
During this discussion, Mr. Fries dives into the first uses of lidar scanners for reconstruction purposes during a DUI manslaughter case in Hawaii in 1999. Key to this first admission was working with the original manufacturers to fine-tune the technology to a forensically admissible standard. The two then focus on the intersection of lidar technology and the legal world, outlining the benefits of efficiency and accuracy for reconstructing forensic incidents. Finally, Mr. Fries and Dr. Walker focus on the horizon of lidar technology and how it could potentially play a key role in immersive virtual/augmented reality reconstructions in the near future.
Dr. Stewart Walker is the Managing Editor of the magazine. He holds MA, MScE and PhD degrees in geography and geomatics from the universities of Glasgow, New Brunswick and Bristol, and an MBA from Heriot-Watt. He is an ASPRS-certified photogrammetrist.
Jason C. Fries is a contributing writer for LIDAR Magazine. His past pieces have outlined specific use-cases for lidar technology in courtroom reconstruction, which can be found here:

"We have used Jason Fries and his team twice to create medical videos depicting complex surgeries. The videos impressed both the jury and the defense attorneys. Perhaps most helpful, Jason will work on short notice and provide a persuasive product."
